The bolo tie traces its roots to the early 20th century, gaining popularity in the 1940s. It was invented in Arizona, with designs inspired by Native American and cowboy culture. Traditionally, bolo ties feature a braided leather cord with metal tips and a decorative clasp, often made of silver, turquoise, or other materials. But these days, bolos come just about any way you can imagine. Diamond studded, delicate gold chains, or adorned with an oversized Prada triangle logo. It's nice having options. Over the decades, they evolved from a regional accessory to a fashion statement. Today, the bolo tie is embraced in both casual and formal settings, reflecting a mix of tradition and contemporary fashion.

Notably, Givenchy has featured bolo necklaces in their collections, bringing a sophisticated, minimalistic twist to this traditionally Western accessory. Balenciaga also embraced the trend, integrating bolo necklaces with avant-garde styling to enhance their edgy, experimental looks. Louis Vuitton sent multiple bolos down the runway for their Fall Menswear 2024 show. These designers are redefining the bolo necklace, positioning it as a chic, versatile piece in contemporary fashion.

More recently, Beyoncé has significantly influenced the resurgence of Western wear in fashion with the release of Renaissance followed by Cowboy Carter. Beyoncé’s use of cowboy hats, fringe, denim, bolos, and boots in her outfits has brought Western wear into the mainstream, making it glamorous and empowering. Another favorite of ours, Orville Peck, the masked country singer, has had a profound influence on the resurgence of Western wear, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community and alternative fashion circles. With his signature fringed masks, cowboy hats, and leather attire, Peck blends traditional Western elements with a modern, theatrical twist. This long chain necklace looks amazing with a deep plunging neckline. Try it with a deep v body suit or a buttoned blazer with no shirt underneath. The necklace could be worn slightly loosened, or you could take this opportunity wear it doubled and paired with your favorite layering necklaces. Ideally, delicate chains or charm necklaces.
